French Marjoram (or Sweet Marjoram as it is known) essential oil is derived from an aromatic herb, native to Egypt and Turkey, where it was regarded as a sign of happiness. 17th Century herbalist, Nicholas Culpeper, recommended Sweet Marjoram as a natural soother of menstrual cramps and the herb is still used today by aromatherapists due to its effective anti-spasmodic and relaxing properties. Blended with softer, floral oils, French Marjoram is known to ease erratic moods and support the mental state during times of stress.
